How We Support Our Customers’ Test Program

Testing runs from Level 1 to Level 5. Our DC power scope sits inside the vendor's program at the offsite location and on the project site, so the crew installing the equipment has already seen it running.

The Principle

The Same Crew, Offsite and On Site

Equipment is proven at an offsite test location before it ships to a congested construction site. We deliver our DC power scope within the vendor's test program there, then on the project site for the repeated checks in the installed configuration.

The vendor owns its test program and its documentation. Our scope within it is defined up front and delivered by our own crew under our own supervision, to the vendor's procedures.

What you get

  • A crew that knows the equipment before it arrives on site
  • The same crew at the offsite location and on the project site
  • A defined scope inside the vendor's own test program and documentation
  • Test records that sit with the vendor's documentation, as they should
Testing Levels

Where Our Scope Fits

Every level is the customer's program. This is where our defined scope sits within it.

LevelWhat happensWhereOur involvement
Level 1Factory acceptance of the equipment as builtManufacturerNone: the OEM's own program
Level 2Component and device verificationOffsite locationOur DC power scope within the vendor's program, under our own supervision
Level 3Pre-functional and static checksOffsite locationOur DC power scope within the vendor's program, under our own supervision
Level 4Functional performance checks under loadOffsite, then again on siteOur DC power scope within the vendor's program, with the same crew both times
Level 5Whole-of-system checks led by the project teamProject siteOur DC power scope within the project team's whole-of-system checks
Level 4 is deliberately repeated on site. The system is proven again in its installed configuration by the same people who saw it run offsite. Where a project refers to a “Level 6”, that is close-out and handover rather than a test level.
Offsite Locations

Provided Across Both Companies, Led by Critical Infrastructure

GWT Critical Infrastructure sources, sets up and acts as principal contractor and custodian of the temporary offsite test location, including temporary power to suit the project and demobilisation at the end. GWT Critical Projects delivers its subcontracted DC power scope at that location under its own contract. The vendor keeps its people on the product or the containerised solution; the facility, the principal-contractor role and the wind-up at the end are Critical Infrastructure's scope under a separate contract.

Critical Infrastructure1. SourceIdentify and secure a suitable location near the end-user project, with the access, hardstand and clearances the equipment requires.
Critical Infrastructure2. Set upEstablish the site as principal contractor: site-specific access controls, laydown and staging, connection arrangements and the site management system.
Critical Infrastructure3. PowerProvide temporary power to suit the project requirements, including for capacity testing.
Critical Projects4. SupportGWT Critical Projects performs its subcontracted DC power scope within the vendor's Level 2 to Level 4 program, then delivers its installation scope on the project site.
Critical Infrastructure5. DemobiliseOn completion of the project, demobilise the location and make good the site.
